Jackets Fall to Shepherd

Box Score

The WVSU football team made the trip to the eastern panhandle to take on Mountain East Conference leader Shepherd Saturday afternoon.
After a hard fought opening half the Rams, ranked #7 nationally, pulled away to a 47-0 win on a sunny but chilly day in Shepherdstown.
The Yellow Jacket defense forced the MEC leading Shepherd offense to punt three times in the opening half and settle for field goals twice, once stopping the Rams on the WVSU 4-yard line. Shepherd did take advantage of a short field twice to score on drives of 48 and 26 yards to take a 20-0 lead into halftime.
After the break the Rams took the opening kickoff and drove 87-yards to make the score 27-0.
Still the Yellow Jacket defense managed to stiffen and hold Shepherd in check for the remainder of the third period.
By the start of the final quarter the Rams had built up over a 12-minute advantage in time of possession and finished the day off with a 20-point fourth period.

The Yellow Jackets now prepare for their final game of the season this Saturday. It will be Senior Day at Dickerson Stadium as WVSU hosts Glenville State with kickoff coming at 1:00 p.m.
