Volleyball Wins Home Opener

Cameron Lewis goes for the kill against Urbana

           Visiting Urbana put up a fight but the Yellow Jackets appeared to grow stronger as the night went on in winning their home opener 3-1 Tuesday in an Atlantic Region volleyball match-up.

         The Blue Knights (0-5) put some pressure on WVSU by winning set two 27-25 after the Jackets had won the opener 25-21.

         The Yellow Jackets (3-2) responded by dominating set three by a 25-17 count.

         Set four went back-and-forth in the early going but WVSU found another gear and pulled ahead 24-19 before Cameron Lewis drove home the game winner a couple of points later at 25-21.

          WVSU returns to action on Wednesday night, September 7, facing Wheeling Jesuit at 7 p.m. in Fleming Hall.
