Bryan Shepherd

After spending three years as the Assistant Sports Information Director, Bryan Shepherd enters his second year as the Sports Information Director at West Virginia State University in 2025-26. Shepherd previously worked with the WVSU Athletic Department as a scoreboard operator for three years and most recently served in various game day operation roles during the spring 2021 season.

Shepherd became the most recognizable voice on public address at West Virginia State during the shortened spring 2021 campaign. He announced volleyball, softball, football, men's and women's basketball, and women's soccer games at various times throughout the season. He remains the regular PA announcer for football, volleyball, women's soccer, and softball, but performs fill-in duties for women's and men's basketball. He was even called upon to announce games at the NCAA DII Atlantic Region Baseball Tournament in Charleston.

Shepherd's other roles during the spring 2021 season included handling scoreboard operation and graphics, creating custom on-screen graphics for live streams, recording statistics with StatCrew software, and providing play-by-play commentary for select broadcasts. Some of his greatest contributions were tailored scoreboard graphics that he integrated with Daktronics interface and modified live stream graphics that automatically updated with StatCrew inputs.

Shepherd plies his trade with three different organizations outside of West Virginia State concurrently. He presently serves as a Broadcast Graphic Designer and Producer for Video Productions out of West Virginia, and a Web Designer and Assistant Commissioner for the Kanawha County Middle School Athletic Conference.

Shepherd is proficient at Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, CBS StatCrew, Daktronics, NCAA LiveStats and SIDEARM software, BlueFrame Production Truck, and VMix. He writes his own code using Adobe Dreamweaver and Eclipse Oracle to design interactive graphics for video boards and live streams.

Shepherd is a Charleston, W.Va. native and U.S. Army veteran. He graduated from Capital High School in 2005. He resides in South Charleston with his wife Kelly and their two dogs Danny and Astrid.
