West Virginia State University Track & Field Shines at Aggie Invitational

Institute, W. Va. — Yellow Jackets T&F turned in several personal records, season bests, and school records across multiple events at the prestigious Aggie Invitational hosted by North Carolina A&T.

Men's

High Jump 
Sophomore Leotis McNeil III tied his season best of 1.90m (602.75) in just his third time competing in the event. 
Corey Bexley Jr. cleared a personal best of 1.85m (600.75), placing 12th overall and earning a national HBCU ranking of 81st for 2025. 
Curtis McCray matched Bexley's mark of 1.85m, securing a season best and a HBCU ranking of 78th for 2025.

Long Jump 
Tariq Murray led the way for WVSU with a 6.89m (2207.25), earning a strong 5th-place finish. 
Freshman Torrance Anthony impressed with a leap of 6.58m (2107.25), placing 16th in a competitive field.

Throws 
Anthony Belcher threw a season best 14.96m in the shot put (7th place), a personal best of 44.79m in the hammer throw, and 44.45m in discus, placing 5th. 
Jonathan Berry recorded a personal best of 14.69m in shot put (9th), along with throws of 39.43m in hammer and 39.94m in discus.

Distance Events 
Freshman Emmanuel Ojo set two personal bests: 4:19.90 in the 1500m and 1:58.22 in the 800m.
Skylar Hudnall nearly matched his personal best, clocking 1:56.18 to finish 8th overall in the 800m.

Sprints 
In the 200m, freshman Malik Kelsic continued his standout season with a new personal best of 21.86 seconds. 
The 100m saw four separate sub-eleven second performances: 
Caedon Trotter – 10.67 seconds 
Tyrell Brooks – 10.76 (season best) 
Kaname Bryant – 10.89 
Torrance Anthony – 10.93


Women's

Throws 
Victoria Sakeia James Colon finished 13th in the shot put (11.18m), threw 29.32m in discus, and set a new school record and personal best of 44.91m in the hammer throw, placing 9th overall.

4x100m Relay 
The team of Candace Morris, Zoe Ledet, Antiya McAlister, and Jaime'Kristen Preston clocked a season best of 46.31 seconds, ranking 31st nationally in NCAA Division II and 15th among HBCUs.

Middle Distance 
Freshman Trinity Charles broke two school records with times of 2:22.83 in the 800m (17th overall) and 5:09.83 in the 1500m—both personal bests.

Hurdles 
Zoe Mcdonald set a new school record in the 400m hurdles, running 1:08.17 in her first time competing in the event this season.

400m 
Jaime'Kristen Preston recorded a new personal best of 56.96 seconds, narrowly missing the school record.

100m 
Candace Morris sprinted to a personal best and school record of 11.81 seconds, placing 17th overall. 
Zoe Ledet just missed her personal best with 12.11 seconds. 
Antiya McAlister ran a season best of 12.17 seconds.


This weekend's meet marked another milestone in the Yellow Jackets' outdoor campaign. With momentum building, WVSU aims to bring their best to the Mountain East Conference Outdoor Championships in Morgantown, W.Va. next week.
