Baseball's Mike Huber named MEC Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia State baseball's Mike Huber (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) was named the Mountain East Conference's Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, on Monday. This marks the fifth-straight week that the Yellow Jackets have earned weekly honors from the league.

First baseman Mike Huber hit 3-for-7 (.429) with two home runs, seven runs batted in and two runs scored in two games played last week. His first home run was a solo shot in the first game of the doubleheader at Wesleyan on Sunday. His second home run was a grand slam in the second game of the twinbill. The grand slam was his second of the season.

Huber is currently tied for second in the MEC in home runs with nine on the season. He has homered in three of his last four games. He ranks in the top five in the conference in OPS (1.276), RBIs (31), slugging percentage (.767), and bases on balls (23). Furthermore, he leads the league in fielding percentage having not committed an error through 28 games.
