INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- West Virginia State University Athletic Director Nate Burton has been selected to serve on the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Board of Directors. Burton will represent the Mountain East Conference and is one of 23 athletic directors from across the country who will help athletics administrators navigate the ever-changing landscape of college athletics.

"I'm honored to be presented with this opportunity to serve on the D2 ADA Board of Directors," stated Burton. "I'm looking forward to collaborating with other D2 athletics directors and representing the MEC with this platform."

The D2 ADA is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), which is in its 59th year. The organization is the first of its kind to provide educational and networking opportunities; enhancement of acceptable operating standards and ethics; and establishment of the overall prestige and understanding of the profession of Division 2 athletics directors.

The purpose of the D2 ADA is to empower its membership in their roles as directors of athletics. The organization's objectives include:
  • Provide a collective voice for Division 2 athletics directors.
  • Provide a forum to discuss issues that impact the role of Division 2 athletics directors.
  • Provide a recognized relationship with other athletics director associations and NCAA leadership groups.
  • Provide helpful information to the Division 2 athletics directors including surveys, newsletters and meetings.

Burton will bring his extensive experience as the Athletic Director of West Virginia State University, a role in which he has served in for eight years, to the D2 ADA Board of Directors. His impact on the WVSU Athletics Department includes bolstering fundraising efforts, upgrading athletic facilities, improving academic performance of student-athletes, increasing competitiveness of teams and adding sport offerings among others.
