Women's Track & Field places second at Concord Invite; WVSU records six first-place finishes

ATHENS, W.Va. – The West Virginia State University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Concord Invite on Friday. The women's team finished second with a season-high 92 points while the men's team placed fourth with a season-best 60 points.

The women's team was helped to its best-ever finish with five first-place finishes. Zoe Ledet finished first in the 100 meters with a time of 13.04 seconds. The Yellow Jackets took up the first through fourth places in the 100m. 

Zoe McDonald recorded first-place finishes in the 100 meter hurdles and the long jump. She registered a time of 15.58 seconds in the 100m hurdles and a distance of 5.14m in the long jump. 

Jaylin Clayton won the women's 400m after crossing the line in one minute and 3.01 seconds. 

The women's 4x100m relay team crossed the line first with a time of 48.99 seconds.

On the men's side, Tyrell Brooks won the 100 meters with a time of 11.57 seconds. Kaname Bryant was close behind in second place with a time of 11.62 seconds.

Tyler Minter placed second in the men's 400m after crossing the finish line in 52.93 seconds.

In field events, Michael Chatman and Robert Salhab III both finished third in the discus throw and the shot put respectively. Chatman threw 34.44 meters while Salhab recorded a distance of 12.26 meters.
