Women's and men's track both place ninth at Blue Bear Invite

SALISBURY, N.C. – The West Virginia State women's and men's track teams both finished in ninth place with team scores of 30.5 and 21, respectively, at the Blue Bear Invite on Saturday. Livingston College hosted the meet and included teams from throughout the region.

Just as in the previous meet, State ran well in both the women's and men's 4x100 meter relays. Both finished in third place to earn six points each. The men recorded a time of 41.43 seconds while the women registered a time of 47.03 seconds.

Other big points grabbed by the Yellow Jackets included the women's 100m, the men's discus throw, the women's shot put and the men's triple jump. 

Antiya McAlister and Zoe Ledet finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100m to combine for nine points. McAlister ran a fraction of a second faster with a time of 12.31 seconds compared to 12.32 seconds clocked by Ledet. 

Robert Salhab III earned eight points for his team in the discus throw. He threw for 44.10 meters to place second in the event.

Victoria Colon gave the Yellow Jackets five points in the shot put. She placed fourth with a distance of 11.72 meters.

Leotis McNeil dialed in a distance of 13.96 meters in the triple jump. His jump was good enough for fifth place and the addition of four points to the men's tally.
