Yellow Jackets finish runners-up in both 4x100 meter relays at Phoenix Invitational

ELON, N.C. – West Virginia State's men's and women's track and field competed at the Phoenix Invitational, hosted by Elon, on Friday. The Yellow Jackets finished in second place in both the men's and women's 4x100 meter relays.

The women's 4x100 relay team consisted of Candace Morris, Zoe Ledet, Antiya McAlister, and Kamauree Randolph. They finished second in a field of 12 teams with a time of 47.63 seconds. Only Hampton was faster by a marginal .23 seconds.

The men's 4x100 relay team consisted of Kaname Bryant, Jayden Smith, Caedon Trotter, and Tyrell Brooks. They also finished runners-up to Hampton. They recorded a time of 41.98 seconds to place second out of seven teams.

The men's team registered a total of six top five finishes across various track and field events. Meanwhile, the women's team tallied five top 10 finishes at the meet.
