Three Yellow Jackets Named to D2CCA All-Region Second Team

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. -- West Virginia State University's women's volleyball team celebrated another milestone as three standout players were named to the 2024 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Region Second Team. The selections recognize their exceptional performances during a season that solidified WVSU's reputation as one of the top programs in the region.

  • Hannah Steele: A dominant offensive presence, Steele led the Yellow Jackets in kills (357, 5th in MEC) and total points (393.5), while maintaining a .244 hitting percentage. Her 38 total blocks and consistent contributions earned her First Team All-MEC and MEC All-Tournament Team honors.

  • Kiersten Eggleton: The MEC Player of the Year, Eggleton delivered an all-around standout season. She ranked second in the MEC for assists (1,065) and assists per set (9.77) while adding 271 digs, 65 kills, and 32 service aces. Eggleton's playmaking ability and leadership also earned her First Team All-MEC and MEC All-Tournament Team recognition.

  • Nicole Gartner Custodio: A defensive anchor, Custodio led the team with 115 total blocks, ranking fifth in the MEC, and her 1.24 blocks per set led the conference. Her .314 hitting percentage was the highest on the team, showcasing her efficiency at the net.

These honors reflect the dedication and skill of these athletes and the WVSU volleyball program, which continues to achieve excellence at the conference and regional levels.

The Yellow Jackets, the No. 5 seed in the Atlantic Region, will now shift their focus to the NCAA Division II Tournament. WVSU is set to take on No. 4 Clarion in the Atlantic Region quarterfinals at Cathedral Prep's Hagerty Family Events Center on Thursday at 7:00 PM.
