WVSU student-athletics combine for 3.24 GPA during fall 2024 semester

INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- West Virginia State University's student athletes combined for a 3.24 grade point average (GPA) during the fall 2024 semester, improving upon their 3.15 mark during the spring semester of this year, making it the 13th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher combined GPA. A total of 238 of the 364 student athletes were recognized as Dr. John L. Fuller, Sr. Scholar-Athletes, a 36% increase from the spring semester.

"I'm incredibly proud of the academic performance of our student-athletes," said Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Nate Burton. "This success is a reflection of highly committed and hard-working student-athletes and our department's dedication to academic excellence. Our coaches also deserve credit as a key support system for all of our student-athletes."

Women's Soccer and Men's Tennis led the way with a combined GPA of 3.65. Women's Tennis, Volleyball, Men's Golf, Baseball, Softball, and Women's Basketball also earned GPAs of 3.0 or higher.
