CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- West Virginia State showed resilience late but fell to undefeated Charleston, 52-17. After a challenging first half, the Yellow Jackets found their rhythm in the fourth quarter, with
Marquevion Smith and
Joel Felder each breaking through for rushing touchdowns.
Brennen Schmitt also added a 36-yard field goal in the third quarter to get WVSU on the board.
Despite the final score, WVSU battled to gain momentum in the second half, finishing with 228 yards of total offense. The Yellow Jackets' defense, led by LucRichard Rameau's sack and key tackles for loss, forced Charleston to earn every yard in a hard-fought Kanawha Valley matchup.
State will look to improve and rebuild during the offseason and hope to come back in 2025 even stronger.
