BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- West Virginia State volleyball's
Jacklyn Simms (Fairfield, Ill/Fairfield Community) was named the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Co-Offensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, as a result of her dominant performance against Wheeling.
Simms racked up an impressive 19 kills, two aces, and nine digs, and hit at a .390 clip to help State's efforts in a 3-0 sweep of the Wheeling Cardinals. She has had six matches this season where she has posted double-digit kills and thrice she has been a dig away from a double-double.Â
Simms is ranked third in the MEC in kills per set at 3.86, and in points per set at 4.22. Simms also posts the fourth best MEC hitting percentage at .300 contributing to State's .276 team hitting percentage which is best in the Mountain East.
