FALL 2023 GRADES

West Virginia State's student-athletes combine for a 3.1 GPA in the fall

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State University's student-athletes collectively earned a 3.1 grade point average for the fall 2023 semester. The 3.1 GPA posted this past semester marked the 11th-straight semester of a collective 3.0 GPA or higher.

"I can't say thank you enough to all of our wonderful student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff and administrators who all play a part in our academic success," said Athletic Director Nate Burton. "Every member of our campus community has to work together as a team to consistently achieve this level of success. I'm so proud to see all their efforts pay off again."

A total of 206 Yellow Jackets, or 68 percent of student-athletes, earned a 3.0 GPA or above in the fall. Of those 206 student-athletes, 46 recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA. There were eight teams that combined for a 3.0 GPA or higher including baseball, men's golf, men's tennis, softball, volleyball, women's basketball, women's soccer and women's tennis. The men's tennis, women's soccer and women's tennis teams all posted a 3.5 GPA or better. No team dropped below a 2.5 GPA for the semester.
