Volleyball's Diamond'Nique Young earns second Player of the Week honor from MEC

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia State volleyball's Diamond'Nique Young (Fresno, Calif./Central) was named the Mountain East Conference's Offensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, for the second time this season on Monday afternoon. This was the seventh time this season that a WVSU volleyball player earned a weekly conference award.

Young registered 31 kills, a .354 attacking percentage, eight block assists and 35 points in two matches played last week. The Yellow Jackets swept Wesleyan, 3-0, to clinch the South Division title before defeating rivals Charleston in five sets. Young's 20 kills and 22.5 points against UC were both season-highs and matched her career-highs set last season.

Young currently ranks in the top five in the MEC in hitting percentage (.317), kills (3.65 per set), blocks (0.99 per set) and points (4.16 per set). She has helped her team become the league's leader in points (17.97 per set), opponent hitting percentage (.127), hitting percentage (.271), opponent assists (9.28 per set), opponent kills (10.28 per set) and blocks (2.34 per set) at the end of the regular season.
