BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia State women's soccer's Maxima Bellscheidt earned Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, presented by The Health Plan, for her performances against West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins. She scored a goal and registered an assist from her centre-back position last week.

Bellscheidt assisted on the game-winning goal against West Virginia Wesleyan last Wednesday. She played the full 90 minutes of the 1-0 shutout of the Bobcats. The assist was the first of her career.

Bellscheidt then scored the fourth goal in a 5-0 shutout of Davis & Elkins this past Sunday. She played the full 90 minutes again and was critical to the defensive effort that did not allow a goal all week. Her goal was a powerful header off a corner kick and was the first of her career.
