BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - The Mountain East Conference has released its All-MEC Academic Teams and the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Fall 2022 semester. A total of 75 student-athletes from West Virginia State University were named to the list.
The list includes sports that conducted their championship in the fall (football, men's cross country, men's golf, men's soccer, volleyball, women's cross country, women's golf and women's soccer). WVSU competed in football, men's golf, volleyball and women's soccer during the past fall semester.
To be a member of the All-MEC Academic Team, the student-athlete must be a member of the active roster and have a grade-point average of 3.70-4.00 in the semester of their championship season. To qualify for the Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a member of the active roster and post a grade-point average between 3.25-3.69 in the semester of their championship season.
The West Virginia State football team placed 28 of its players on the list. Ten were Academic All-MEC honorees while 18 landed on the Commissioner's Honor Roll. Meanwhile, two men's golf student-athletes made the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
On the women's side, sixteen WVSU volleyball players received Academic All-MEC honors with another two players making the Commisioner's Honor Roll. Additionally, 27 women's soccer student-athletes earned honors, including 18 Academic All-MEC recipients and nine players on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Nearly 1,300 student-athletes were recognized by the MEC, with more than half that earned Academic All-MEC honors (3.70 or higher) in their respective sports.
