Women's Soccer now receiving votes in national poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The West Virginia State University women's soccer team received votes in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA DII Women National Poll for the first time in program history when the latest rankings were released on Tuesday afternoon. WVSU also moved up from sixth place to fourth place in the Atlantic Region rankings.

The national recognition and upward trajectory in the region came after the Yellow Jackets upended Davis & Elkins, 9-3, and defeated West Virginia Wesleyan, 2-1, last week. State is now unbeaten and untied through six games this season. WVSU will have the opportunity to break into the top 25 if it can keep its streak alive through two home games against Charleston and Concord this week.

The Yellow Jackets are currently ranked third in NCAA Division II in scoring offense with 4.00 goals per game and fifth in points per game (10.17) which awards two points for goals and one point for assists.State also leads the Mountain East Conference in total goals and total points through three weeks.
