INSTITUTE, W.Va. — The Yellow Jacket soccer team shocked the conference with their defeat over then-nationally ranked No. 6 Concord. The team now sets their sights on a Thursday matchup with Davis & Elkins, who knocked off Concord last Saturday, followed by a Sunday nightcap against West Virginia Wesleyan.

THE BUZZ AT STATE
Several Yellow Jackets have been deadly accurate when they put shots on target with leading scorer Fran Soares-Cupertino putting six shots on goal and pocketing five of them, including a game winner against the University of Indianapolis. Brooklyn Pritt has netted three goals of her four shots on goal, and Esther Dhiramo is a perfect two for two. Paula Herold scored on her only shot on goal, Maria Amaral is 1-for-2, and Yasmin Evans is 1-for-3.
Sophomore net minder Laura Galindo has faced 25 shots, nine of which have been on goal, saving seven of them. She has the conference's third best goals against average with a 0.667. Only Frostburg State goalie Ashley Bilger and Fairmont State's Taylor Kennedy is ranked higher. Bilger has not allowed a goal in five starts, while Kennedy has allowed two in four starts.
As a team, WVSU is outscoring opponents 13-3.

SCOUTING THE SENATORS
The Senators come into the match with a 2-1 record following a thrilling 2-1 victory over Concord last week. Concord is the conference's most prolific scoring team, scoring 13 goals, just like WVSU, but in one fewer match which bumped their goals per game up to 4.333.
The Senator's leading scorer is sophomore Madison Rose, pocketing four goals for the Senators. Junior Alexa Karsel is next in line with three goals.
The likely starter in goal for the Senators will be senior Katie Clarke. The Hereford, England-native has faced down 28 shots, 18 of them on target with 13 saves and five goals scored against. She only played the first half of the Senator's season-opener against Salem, leaving the Tigers scoreless through 45 minutes.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
West Virginia Wesleyan enters the Sunday match against the Yellow Jackets at 1-4, falling to Concord on Wednesday, 5-1.
Ava Badallo and Kameron Bonneau are the leading scorers for the Bobcats, both putting two goals on the board for the Bobcats. Beth Burchett and Talia Stacy round out the scoring this season with one goal each.
Junior Ally Moore is the only goaltender that the Bobcats have played so far. She has given up 11 goals in the five matches played so far, but she does have a clean-sheet victory against Glenville State.

SHAKING UP THE RANKS
Concord's losses last week allowed the Yellow Jackets to move up in the regional rankings from No. 10, to No. 6. Concord fell completely out of the United Soccer Coaches National and Atlantic Region poll, leaving just West Virginia State and Frostburg State (No. 4) representing the Mountain East in the regional poll.
