BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia State women's soccer's sophomore goalkeeper Laura Galindo was named the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, presented by the Health Plan, for her outstanding play in between the posts over the previous two games. 

Galindo was instrumental in a 2-1 upset of No. 6 Concord in which she faced 17 shots from the Mountain Lions. She made five saves and her one goal allowed for the week came from a penalty kick late in the contest after the Yellow Jackets had already established a two-goal lead.

Galindo followed up her stellar midweek performance by registering her first clean sheet of the season in a 4-0 win against Glenville State on Sunday night. She maintained her focus through a two-and-a-half hour weather delay and made two saves to keep the Pioneers off the scoreboard.
