BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – West Virginia State volleyball's Diamond'Nique Young was named First Team All-Atlantic Region by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) when the awards were announced on Thursday afternoon. Sports Information Directors from Atlantic Region institutions nominated and voted on the awards.

Young transferred from Division I CSU-Pueblo this season and made an instant impact at West Virginia State in her junior year. She finished the 2022 season ranked 10th in the nation and first in the Mountain East Conference in hitting percentage at a .398 clip. Additionally, Young ranked in the top 10 in the MEC in blocks per set (0.97), kills per set (3.18), points per set (3.77), total blocks (99) and total kills (324).

She received First Team All-MEC honors last week after leading the Yellow Jackets in points (383.5) from her middle blocker/hitter position. Young is 1-of-6 talented juniors on the current WVSU squad that are poised to compete for a championship next season. She will be eligible for the All-American ballot this year as a First Team All-Region selection.
