Donovan Riddick earns multiple accolades for lights out performance on Saturday

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – West Virginia State football's Donovan Riddick was named both the HBCU National Player of the Week by BOXTOROW and the Offensive Player of the Week by the Mountain East Conference for his outstanding performance in a 56-38 come-for-behind upset of Concord this past Saturday. 

Riddick set career-highs in both passing yards with 402 and passing touchdowns with five to help his team comeback from a 19-point deficit in the first half. He completed 29-of-41 passes to record a 71 percent completion rate for the game. Additionally, Riddick rushed for 43 yards and a score to account for all six offensive touchdowns racked up by State on Saturday.

Riddick is currently ranked second in the MEC in completion percentage (63.6), passing touchdowns (16), and total offense (1,997 yards) through eight games. He's thrown a league-low four picks and leads the conference in touchdowns-to-interceptions ratio.
