BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- West Virginia State women's soccer's sophomore goalkeeper
Laura Galindo was named the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, for the second time this season on Monday afternoon.
Galindo earned two clean sheets last week in a 1-0 win at Notre Dame College and a 2-0 victory versus Davis & Elkins. They were her fourth and fifth clean sheets of the season.
She directed the defense against NDC midweek while facing 10 shots and seven corner kicks from the Falcons. Her organizational skills allowed her to get through the match without having to make a save.
Galindo was then barraged with 22 shots and five corner weeks from D&E over the weekend. She saved all four shots on goal, including a stellar diving save in the 30th minute, to earn two clean sheets in one week for the first time this season.
