MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The West Virginia State University baseball program placed four of its players on the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Atlantic Region teams when they were announced on Wednesday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets led all other programs in the region with their four honorees. First baseman Matt Harrison and starting pitcher Ethan Lauchart were named on the first team while designated hitter Matthew Kline and utility pitcher Andrew Stone landed on the second team.

The D2CCA region teams are voted on by sports information directors in the respective regions. The 16 members of the first team advance to the national ballot for All-America consideration.

Graduate students Matt Harrison and Ethan Lauchart garnered First Team All-Atlantic Region honors after a 2021 campaign that saw both players rank among the top five in the Mountain East Conference (MEC) across multiple statistical categories. Harrison and Lauchart also garnered First Team All-Atlantic Region honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and received First Team All-MEC plaudits at the conclusion of the regular season.

Seniors Matthew Kline and Andrew Stone earned Second Team All-Atlantic Region honors for their respective roles on the 2021 West Virginia State baseball squad. Kline and Stone both gained All-MEC Honorable Mention status at the end of the regular season. Kline was named the MVP of the 2021 MEC Tournament while Stone earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

The All-Region honorees from West Virginia State will have another opportunity to showcase their talents at the NCAA DII Atlantic Region Tournament on May 27-30 at the University of Charleston (W.Va.). The No. 3 seeded Yellow Jackets will face No. 2 seeded Millersville tomorrow at 3 p.m. to begin their tournament run.
