Autumn Thompson received Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively, from the Mountain East Conference when the awards were announced on Monday afternoon. The West Virginia State University softball team won both of its games against UVA Wise (6-3, 3-1) in a doubleheader played last Thursday.
Barrett earned MEC Player of the Week honors after she went 4-for-7 (.571 avg.) with a double, a sacrifice fly, and three runs batted in. She drove in all three runs in the second game of the series at UVA Wise.
Thompson was named MEC Pitcher of the Week for tossing a complete game in which she struck out seven batters and only allowed four hits. She held the Cavaliers to one run in the second game to earn the first win of her collegiate career.
