Jordan West named MEC Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- West Virginia State University volleyball player Jordan West was named MEC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

West, a sophomore from Coshocton, Ohio, helped West Virginia State get off to a 2-0 start last week averaging 16.0 digs. She had 18 digs to go with four assists and an ace in a win over Glenville State, and then had 14 more digs as the Yellow Jackets defeated Concord. 

Davis & Elkins' Macie Magallon was tabbed the MEC Offensive Player of the Week. Magallon, a junior from Nucla, Colo., had 40 kills and hit .385 in a pair of wins for the Senators. She also had 15 digs, 7.0 blocks and 4 aces. She opened the week with 23 kills while hitting .415 against Concord, and also had two aces, six digs and five total blocks. She followed it up with 17 kills and nine digs in a 3-0 sweep of Charleston.

Offense: Keara Lewis (FAIR) had 41 kills, hit .297 and had 19 digs as the Falcons opened the season 2-0 ... Kelsie Palmer (NDC) averaged 14 kills in a 1-1 week ... Jenna Dufresne (WVSU) averaged15.5 kills and 10.0 digs in a 2-0 week ... Madison Clayton (WLU) averaged 14.5 kills and eight total blocks as the 'Toppers went 1-1 ... Ashlyn McDonald (AB) had 13 kills and nine digs in a loss to West Liberty ... Beyonce Andrews (UC) had 18 kills in two games for the Golden Eagles ... Amber Hall (CU) had 18 kills and hit .325 in two matches.

Defense: Lilianna Keber (FAIR) averaged 42 assists in two matches and had 31 digs in a five-set win over Notre Dame ... Katie Ricahrdosn (NDC) averaged 16.0 digs and 22 assists in a 1-1 week ... Lindsay Maddox (CU) averagedd 20.5 digs in two matches ... Briauna Pauley (UC) had 18 digs in a pair of contests ... Anna Schmidt (AB) had a team-high 16 digs and two aces against West Liberty ... Brilane Manchego (DE) averaged 11.3 assists per set and had 22 total digs.
