INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- The following is the spectator policy set forth by the West Virginia State University Athletic Department for home sporting events during the winter 2021-22 season. The current spectator policy is contingent on guidelines provided by governmental agencies over the coming weeks and months. Spectator policies for different institutions may vary so check their athletics websites for updates if planning to attend away games.

Indoor-Specific Policy
  • Masks are required inside the Walker Convocation Center.
  • Social distancing is encouraged.
  • General public and visiting fans will be permitted.
  • Doors will open 60 minutes prior to game time.
Policy for Violations of COVID Safety Protocols

Spectators will be required to follow all COVID safety protocols including wearing a mask and social distancing. Gameday staff will ensure that fans are following COVID protocols and anyone unable to wear their mask properly or who commits other COVID protocol violations will be asked to leave the venue immediately.

Postgame Loitering Policy

Fans will be required to leave the facility immediately following the game or match.

Live Streaming of Sporting Events

WVSU Athletics will continue to stream as many home events as possible on the Mountain East Conference Digital Network. All home broadcasts for football, volleyball, women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, baseball, and softball games can be found at mountaineast.tv/wvsu/. Links to watch away contests can be found on the schedule pages of each sport if available.

Contingency Plan

Our administration will continue to monitor the guidelines set forth by governmental agencies in the coming weeks and months. Any decisions about future attendance policy changes will be based on the health and well-being of student-athletes, coaches, spectators and the greater community.
