FAIRMONT, W.Va. – West Virginia State's Women's Soccer team fell to Fairmont State Sunday by a score of 6-0. WVSU falls to 10-5-1, 9-4-1 in the Mountain East. Fairmont St. improves to 7-6-2, 7-5-2 in the MEC.
FSU opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Angelina Kaylor snuck one past
Ashley Craigo, 0-1. Kiera Kuzinski scored just under two minutes later, 0-2.
WVSU's
Abby Roberts took the team's only shot in the 22
nd minute.
The scoresheet fell silent until the 26
th minute when FSU's Mackenzie Gillispie was assisted by Kuzinski on the third FSU goal. Alyssa Weaver scored in the 27
th with an assist from Angelina Kaylor, 0-4. Gracie Smith put the Falcons up by five in the 83
rd minute and Elizabeth Crowe rounded out the scoring in the 84
th minute.
The Yellow Jackets were out-possessed by Fairmont State by a 70%-30% margin. FSU took 31 shots to WVSU's one.
Craigo allowed 4 goals and made 6 saves.
Olivia Bird replaced Craigo in the 68
th minute, faced four shots on goal and saved two of them.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 3 when they host the Frostburg State Bobcats at Lakin-Ray Field at Dickerson Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 pm.
