Anthony Pittman has been named the Mountain East Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after helping the Yellow Jackets to a 2-0 record.Â
Pittman, a sophomore from Charleston, W.Va., posted a pair of double-doubles for WVSU last week and averaged 17.5 points, 16.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocked shots and 3.5 assists. In a win over Notre Dame, he had 11 points and 12 rebounds to go with four assists and four blocked shots. In a win over Alderson Broaddus, Pittman posted just the ninth 20/20 game in MEC history with 24 points and 20 rebounds. He also scored WVSU's final seven points to get the Yellow Jackets past the Battlers, 76-72.
