RALEIGH, N.C. -- BOXTOROW, a nationally-syndicated radio program committed to the coverage of HBCU sports, released its 12th annual Division II All-America teams on Wednesday afternoon. West Virginia State University's Glen Abram (Chicago, Ill./Rich Central) was named a First Team All-American in the yearly list of the nation's best HBCU men's basketball players at the NCAA Division II level.

This was the third postseason honor awarded to junior guard Glen Abram after a 2019-20 season in which he led the Yellow Jackets in scoring (18.9 ppg). He posted 20 or more points in nine regular season games to earn a spot on the All-MEC First Team. Eight of those nine games resulted in wins for West Virginia State. Abram then proved that he could get it done in the postseason too by recording the highest scoring average (28.0 ppg) in the 2020 Mountain East Conference Men's Basketball Tournament. His 30 points against Wheeling in the quarterfinals and 26 points versus West Liberty in the semifinals landed him on the MEC All-Tournament Team.

Abram was a huge factor in the unprecedented success experienced by the West Virginia State University men's basketball team during the 2019-20 season. The Yellow Jackets finished fourth in the MEC standings, their highest finish since joining the MEC in 2013, to earn a first-round bye in the MEC Tournament. They advanced to the semifinals for their first time in program history after defeating Wheeling, 67-61, and were knocked out by eventual champions West Liberty, 88-81. The semifinal matchup between the Yellow Jackets and the Hilltoppers proved to be more competitive than the final as West Liberty handily defeated Charleston, 73-60.

All-MEC First Team selection Glen Abram returns for the 2020-21 season along with All-MEC Second Team selection Anthony Pittman and All-MEC Honorable Mention Jeremiah Moore. Abram and Moore will be entering their senior years while Pittman will be entering his second year of eligibility.
