Casey Sr. was co-captain of the football and basketball teams, and he also played baseball. He played semi-pro ball with the Wheeling Ironmen and the Charleston Rockets.Casey Sr. served nine years as president of the Hartford, Conn., board of education. He was later a corporate officer with the Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford.
