Rossellini Dwight Street, known to many as "Big Ike" was born on March 26, 1951 in Nwport News, VA, to the late Harry and Doris Street. At an early age Dwight moved to Williamsburg, VA where he attended public schools, including Bruton Heights High School where he met two other Hall of Famers -- Ben Hunter and Dewayne "Scooter" Freeman.

Upon graduation from high school in 1969 Dwight was recruited by the late great Coach Chester A. Burris to attend West Virginia State College (University). During his time at WVSC Dwight was one of the top player in the WVIAC. In 1969-70 he averaged 8.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.

The next year he averaged 10.7 and 9.6. During the 1971-72 campaign 19.1 points and 11.9 rebounds as he was named First Team All-WVIAC. He was named First Team All-WVIAC again as a senior when he averaged 13.9 and 9.6.

While at WVSC he met his wife Alexis "Shelly" Smith. They have one daughter, Brandyn Marjhan.
