Britt Howard was a distinguished member of the football, wrestling, and track teams at Dunbar High in nearby Dunbar, WV, earning letters in all of those sports twice during his three year high school career.

He was heavily recruited by many college football and wrestling coaches before finally deciding to fulfill his childhood dream by accepting a full scholarship  to attend West Virginia State and play football for Coach Clifton Moore and the Yellow Jackets.

Britt's parents had strong connections to the school and were therefore very pleased with his decision. His father, Hennie, retired from State as the Director of Physical facilities and his mother, Brenda, graduated from there with a degree in education.

Listed among Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, he excelled in both football and track at West Virginia State. Britt was selected to the All-Conference First Team twice in football and qualified for the NAIA National Track and Field Championships in shot put where he would be ranked 12
th nationally.

Britt graduated with a BS degree in Criminal Justice with a GPA above 3.0.

Known for his consistent, middle of the line, tackling from his nose guard position, above average strength, and exceptional quickness and speed for a 265-pound defensive lineman, he quickly became a leader of the 1986 - 1989 football teams as a four year starter and co-captain.

Britt was the recipient of the Toyota Leadership Award during a nationally televised game against Central State University during the 1989 season. He was also recognized by the local "W" Club for his achievements in football and track at State.

Nicknamed Big "B", he was a premiere defensive lineman on the 1987 WVSU football team that is still considered one of the best squads the school has ever fielded. That group finished with a season record of 8-1-1 and was ranked nationally throughout the season.

After his college football days were behind him, he power lifted for several years. He  earned first place in the USPF United State Power Lifting Federation National Championship Bench Press Meet in 1994. He also won several other regional titles in the sport before retiring in 1995. He now lifts weights for overall fitness and fun.

Britt went on to obtain a Master of Science in Safety Management from Marshall University and he has worked in the safety field since 1991 as a professional fire fighter, certified safety professional in the United States and Canada for the petro chemical industry and as a college instructor. His proudest role in serving others in the safety profession is as the Vice President for a global engineering and construction firm based in Denver, CO.

His time away from work is spent working out and enjoying time with his wife Madeleine and children (Brittanie, Brandon, Brock, Brahn, and Braxx).
