Johnny D. Goodwin

   A native of South Carolina, Goodwin is the son of Welton and Vivian Goodwin, Sr. and stepson of Betty Goodwin of Hopkins, SC.
   Mr. Goodwin entered West Virginia State in the fall of 1986 and received his BS Degree in Criminal Justice in 1990. He joined the Yellow Jackets football team as a freshman walk-on his freshman year.
   During his footbalkl career he was named Player of the Week on several occassions, first team All-Conference linebacker for 1897-89, Outstanding Junior Athlete by the National "W" Club in 1988, Defensive captain in 1989-90, and Honorable Mention on the Associated Pess' Little All-American team.
   The highest honor bestowed upon Johnny was when Black Entertainment Television (BET) voted him as one of thenty most valuable players of black college football.
   Mr. Goodwin is a humanitarian and gives freely of his time by serving in several different capacities in various organizations. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.; is also active with the South Carolina Alumni Chapter of WVSU, and is a lifetime member of the WVSU National Alumni Association.
