As an undergraduate, Bellinger was the first State student to win individual scoring honors in any West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship. He was all-WVIAC in track for three years and for two years in a row, won the 100-yard dash, the 220-yard dash, anchored the 440-yard relay and was on the winning sprint relay.
