Frank Enty was a four year letterman on State teams during the 1946 to 1950 golden era of basketball at the school. It was during this time that the Yellow Jackets won three CIAA conference championships and two CIAA Tournament Championships. The ’47-’48 team went undefeated and was declared National Champions by the Pittsburgh Courier newspaper. Enty played alongside Earl Francis Lloyd, the first African-American to play in the National Basketball Association.

Enty followed up his basketball career as head coach at Hampton Institute and then at State where he succeeded the legendary Mark Cardwell as head coach. Dr. Enty had a major role in establishing the National “W” Club and in 1976 he was elected as the first President of the organization with Rupert G. Curry, Vice-President; Herbert B. Thompson, Treasurer; and, Herbert H. Henderson, Attorney/Secretary. In 1978, he became an incorporator of the organization along with Rupert G. Curry, Herbert B. Thompson, Herbert H. Henderson and Attorney William L. Lonesome.
