Freeman, a 1970 State graduate, was an all-WVC basketball player in 1967 and 1968. Freeman averaged 15 points for the Yellow Jackets as a freshman. He lives in Portsmouth, Va., and later was the director of physical education and health at the SouthSide Boys Club in Norfolk.
