Dillard, now a resident of Seattle, graduated from West Virginia State in 1950. He was captain of the Yellow Jackets football team in 1949 and 1950 and was an All-American both seasons.

In other years, he received CIAA honorable mention and All-CIAA second team. He was later a teacher and coach at Clarksburg and an aircraft company employee
