Aheart was inducted into a special category for his 60 years of continuous service to WVSU.

Aheart served as math department chairman for 30 years, was dean of natural science and math for several years, was chairman of the Athletic Commission and continues to serve as the NCAA faculty/athletic representative.

Aheart was also recognized for not missing a home football game since he started teaching at WVSU in 1948.

A Wildwood, Va., native, Aheart attended college at Virginia Union University, graduated summa cum laude and entered Harvard University School of Mathematics in the fall of 1942.

He served in World War II, and then, with help from the GI Bill, he earned a master's degree from Harvard in 1948.
