Women's Tennis Signs Recruit
    The WVSU women's tennis team has landed its first recruit for fall 2018.

    Chante Malo from Great Britain has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Yellow Jackets.

    "Chante and her father visited us and really liked the school and the program," WVSU Head Tennis Coach John Simms said. "She is an excellent person, student, and player, who perfectly fits the mold for what type of student-athlete we want in the program."

      5162The Yellow Jackets have won six straight conference championships and will be making the program's 11th consecutive NCAA tournament appearance the end of the month.

      Malo hails from Stockton on Tees in northeast England and has excelled in local, regional, and national competitions. Her father is a former professional hockey player and her mother is a professional dancer.

      "Chante understands what it means to be an athlete and to train for your sport," Simms said. "She is going to be an excellent addition to our team and to the school."

      WVSU graduates one senior, Nina Dillwald, this spring.

      The Yellow Jackets are currently ranked #2 in the NCAA Atlantic Region and face #1 Indiana U.-Pa. this Sunday at 11 a.m. in Institute.
